RECREATIONAL BOAT SKIPPER (PER)

Recreational Boat Skipper (PER) is the nautical license which will let you govern a recreational motorboat or sailboat until 12 miles from the coast or between islands, and between the Peninsula Iberica and Balearics if you make the complementary practices. No experience required.
+ What kind of leisure boat can I govern with this license?
- Jetski of any power.
- Motorboats with a maximum length of 15 metres.
- Sailboats with a maximum length of 15 metres if you carry out the complementary practices about sail navigation (1).
- Motorboats with a maximum length of 24 metres if you carry out the statutory practice of cruise navigation (2).
- Sailboats with a maximum length of 24 metres if you carry out the complementary practices about sail navigation (1) and the statutory practice of cruise navigation (2).
+ In which circumstances can I navigate?
- With jetskis, inside the specific navigation limits that apply according the technical features of each one.
- With motorboats, until 12 miles from the coastline and between islands inside the balearic and canary archipelago, during daytime and night-time.
- With sailboats, until 12 miles from the coastline and between islands inside the balearic and canary archipelago, during daytime and night-time in case you carry out the complementary sail practices (1).
- With motorboats, between the Peninsula Iberica and Balearics, during daytime and night-time, in case you carry out the statutory practice of cruise navigation (2).
- With sailboats, between the Peninsula Iberica and Balearics, during daytime and night-time, in case you carry out the complementary sail practices (1) and the statutory practice of cruise navigation (2).
+ How is the course structured?
- Sessions of theory (time invested will depend on each student) where we are going to work on the following themes:
- Nautical naming.
- Mooring and anchoring elements.
- Sea safety.
- Legislation.
- Beaconing.
- International code to prevent collisions (RIPA).
- Navigation and manoeuvres.
- Sea emergencies.
- Meteorology.
- Navigation theory.
- Navigation marine charts.
- Practical sessions about navigation and security for 16 hours on an homologated boat where we will apply every concept worked in the theory part to obtain the motor navigation license.
- A theory and practical session of 12 hours about short range radio operator.
- Practical sail navigation complementary sessions (1) of 16 hours in an homologated boat if you also want the sail navigation license.
- Practical complementary session (2) of cruise navigation during 24 consecutive hours if you want to get the license to navigate with boats with a maximum length of 24 metres and between the Peninsula Iberica and Balearic.
+ Information of interest
- Maximum of 8 students in a course.
- You need to pass a theory exam to get the license.
- All practices can be done before or after the theory exam.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- The student must bring a medical certificate apt for nautical activities to be able to get the license.
- Once finished the theory and practice sessions and the exam passed, the student can issue the official license/card.
- The official license card has a validity period of 10 years, and after that it can be renovated submitting a new medical certificate.

- 550 € the complete course of Recreational Motor Boat Skipper which includes the theory and practical sessions and didactic material.
- 725 € the complete course of Recreational Motorboat and Sailboat Skipper which includes the theory and practical sessions and didactic material.
- 72,25 € the exam taxes.
- 80 € the official license expedition taxes.
- 275 € the practical regulatory session of cruise navigation for 24 hours.
