Have you ever wondered where this ship is going or what its name is? Well, in the same way that there are famous apps to track airplanes, there are other applications in which you can “track” the ships that sail the seas. Obviously you will not find all vessels, but only those of a certain size and those destined for commercial activities, which are obliged to constantly report their position, course and destination. The AIS is the element that allows this information to be sent to the respective stations.

There are different applications that you can download for free or view on the web. Here are some examples.

Marine Traffic

Vessel Finder

Both applications have a paid version where you can consult historical records, detailed searches, etc.. In addition, users can collaborate by adding images of the ships found.
