The Navigation License (LN) is the most basic nautical title that will allow you to steer a pleasure boat.

+ What type of pleasure craft will I be able to operate with this license?

• Nautical motorcycles of any power.
• Motorboats up to 6 meters in length and adequate engine power.

+ Under what circumstances will I be able to sail?

• Daytime.
• Up to a maximum of 2 nautical miles in any direction from a port, marina or place of refuge.

+ How is the course structured?

• Theoretical session of 2 hours in which the following topics are covered:

1. Introduction to the practical contents.
2. Limitations on navigation on unmarked beaches, buoyed beaches and access channels.
3. Regulations regarding maritime traffic and inland navigation in ports.
4. Lateral markings of region A.
5. How to steer the boat.
6. International Regulations for Preventing Collisions (RIPA).
7. Basic notions for the use of a portable VHF radio station.

• Practical sailing and safety session of 4 hours in an approved boat where you work:

1. Knowledge and handling of safety equipment, review of critical points of the vessel and checks prior to departure to sea.
2. Identification of the elements of the propulsion system. Engine start-up and operational checks.
3. Handling of basic ropes and knots.
4. Dock maneuvers, berthing and unberthing. Safety speed.
5. Anchoring maneuver and anchor tacking. Precautions for bathers and divers.
6. Safety maneuvers.

+ Information of interest

• Maximum 8 students per course.
• It is not necessary to pass any exam to obtain the qualification.
• Minimum age of 18 years old or 16 years old with parental or guardian consent.
• The student must provide a medical certificate of fitness for boating for the processing of the title.
• At the end of the theoretical and practical sessions, the School will issue the official card and deliver it to the student.
• The official license is valid for 10 years, after which it may be renewed with a new medical certificate.

+ Prices

• 125 € for the complete Navigation License course, which includes the theoretical and practical sessions, insurance, didactic material and the issuance of the certificate.
• 100 € if you already have the old title of Federative Authorization (“Titulín”), and you want to validate it to the Sailing License by simply doing the 4 hours of practices.
