The Costa Brava starts in Portbou (French border) up to Blanes, in the Selva region. In the middle is the imposing Cap de Creus that dominates the geography and sea conditions. The Costa Brava is full of beautiful landscapes, and a large number of ports and sports clubs and a wide range of activities. The northern part of the Costa Brava is famous for the strong north wind, the Tramuntana, which blows at many times of the year. Sailing south of Cap de Creus is calmer but you should always be aware of the shallows and areas of limited navigation such as the Medes Islands off l’Escala.
